REMINDER: No Rehab Sunday afternoon/evening on September 25th.

Our eight week program caters primarily to dogs with reactive and aggressive on-leash behavior toward other dogs. We also accept dogs with human reactivity issues, including reactivity to people approaching, jogging, lifting or holding large objects, passing by, wearing hats, entering or leaving the room, etc.

tick Two individual sessions teach you how to manage your dog in the real world during your rehab, and get you prepared for class
tick Six classroom sessions expose your dog in a systematic and controlled way to other classroom dogs, practicing new skills and calm behaviors

In Leash Reactivity Rehab you will learn and practice proper leash handling and use of restraint equipment, how to read your dog’s body language, and how to successfully transfer your classroom knowledge to the real world.

Your dog will learn and practice a new behavior that is incompatible with lunging at other dogs and people. In the process, he will start to feel more comfortable being around his triggers. The program thus focuses on two aspects of your dog’s reaction on leash: what he does and how he feels.

Our classroom sessions give you and your dog hours of focused practice with your new skills, in the controlled presence of other dogs and people. Each team is set up for success with a series of carefully designed exercises that build on each other from week to week. Only positive reinforcement based techniques are utilized in Leash Reactivity Rehab.

Leash Reactivity Rehab is an intensive class that requires a significant commitment. Students in Leash Reactivity Rehab must be able to integrate short but frequent training sessions into their daily routine, and should be willing to implement management techniques necessary to avoid exposure to provocative situations during the program.

The class is structured to address on leash reactivity and aggression. This class is not designed to correct aggressive behavior during off-leash interactions.
