Is your dog a polite member of civilized society? This class is designed to help you and your dog meet the demands of modern mannerly living. Teach your dog how you expect him to behave around strangers, distractions, and other dogs… so you can go places together with confidence.

Modern, gentle and effective techniques will be used to train and practice for each item on the Canine Good Citizen Test. Arrange a test when you’re ready, or just enjoy your well-behaved dog.

In this class you will learn

  • The science of how dogs learn, and how best to teach them
  • How to train for reliable performance around distractions
  • How to use food and a variety of non-food reinforcers effectively
  • Good timing and how to work at your dog’s level

In this class your dog will learn

  • To sit politely during greetings, petting, and examination
  • To walk on a loose leash, including through a group of people
  • To recognize and respond to the cues sit, down, stay, and come
  • To react politely to nearby dogs on leash
  • To better cope with visual and sound distractions
  • To maintain good manners on leash while you are out of sight
