There’s no need to choose between speed and precision.  With the correct foundation, you can have both.  The skills covered in this class are just right for the beginning agility handler, for experienced handlers with beginning dogs, and for experienced teams wishing to improve foundation behaviors.

For those new to Agility: Jump right in!  Agility training is active, exciting, challenging, and fun for both members of the team.

In this class you will learnBoxer-tunnel

  • Basic obstacle training and handling
  • Correct timing and placement of rewards
  • How to set criteria and when to raise criteria
  • Techniques to build speed and maintain precision

In this class your dog will learn

  • Strong contact behavior
  • To move with you, and at your direction; to follow; to increase/decrease speed as cued; to respond to motion cues
  • To maintain position on contact obstacles, table, and at the start line, and to release from these positions with speed
  • Jumping
  • To work at a distance from you
  • Body awareness

All ages and sizes of dog are welcome.  Exercises in class are easily modified for dogs/puppies based on age/health.  All friendly and tolerant dogs may attend, there are no prerequisite classes or behaviors.  Dogs attending Foundation Agility must do well in a group class environment, and with other dogs off leash. Foundation Agility Class combines on-leash and off-leash exercises, and is for non-aggressive dogs only.
